Kenyan Widows in Need – A Call for Compassion

Widows in Kenya face immense challenges, from social stigma to economic deprivation, often exacerbated by mistreatment from inlaws. They are stripped of their inheritance, plunging them into poverty and desperation, especially when they have children to care for.

Many of these widows, orphaned and married young, end up on the streets, forgotten by their communities and forced into desperate situations like prostitution. Their voices go unheard, their struggles unaddressed, weakening the very fabric of their communities.

Let's join hands to support Kenyan widows and uplift their communities. Your generous contribution today can make a transformative impact on these marginalized women and the societies they are part of. Together, let's stand with these widows in their time of need.

JOB SKILLS TRAINING

Every widow we serve has the opportunity to receive our job skills training. It equips the women to search, apply, and interview for employment opportunities.

This training empowers them to gain and maintain employment and financial security.

ESSENTIAL NEEDS SUPPORT:
SHELTER, FOOD, & CLOTHING

Essential Needs Support connects widows with housing opportunities, food, clothing, and hygiene items.

Many of the widows that QFF works with are dispossessed of inheritance that is rightfully theirs. Therefore, homelessness is a common problem for this population.
This is especially challenging for widows with children.

LITERACY INSTRUCTION

Many of the widows we serve were young and orphaned when they married their late husbands. Most often, these women did not receive basic literacy instruction and cannot read. This makes it nearly impossible for them to acquire critical documents from the government and file to receive their rightful inheritance.

Literacy instruction is a vital part of our work with Kenyan widows. Ensuring that they can read is key to empowering them to become gainfully employed. It also makes them better able to advocate for themselves and their children.
